Additionally, Gallup found the length of retirement is longer too, 18.6 years for men and 21.3 years for women, up from 12.8 years and 16.6 years, respectively.
OPM retirement claims take a step back in September

Though OPM did not make improvements in retirement claims, the inventory backlog did shrink from 15,178 down to 14,494. This is the lowest it has been since May 2024.
Lawmakers want more time off for service members

A new bill would more than double military leave for federal employees who also serve in the National Guard or reserve forces.
