I highly recommend this park for anyone that is interested in history. This park reminds me quite a bit of Gettysburg, however it does not have quite as many tours and overwhelming amount of visitors… Druci的完整评论

Very beautiful park. Staff at the visitor center were very nice and professional. Wear good walking shoes as areas that can not be seen from the road are worth walking to. Watch the 18 minutes vide… hilllea06的完整评论

Shiloh was truly a moving experience. I didn't really know too much about it. After spending 3 hours here, I found out that this battle was one of the most brutal campaigns in the Civil War. 23 thous… johnv708的完整评论

Sadly, I did not look into this option when we visited Shiloh. We listened to an excellent talk about the battle from a Park Ranger which was done in the cemetery near the river and close to the visitors center. We then used the audio guided tours for the car that are available at the visitors center. If memory serves me correctly, I do have some memory that there are a couple of people in the area who do private tours but, unlike Gettysburg, you do not go through the National Park Service to book them - they are contacted individually through their own website. Just Google "Private tours of Shiloh Battlefield." Shiloh is truly worth the visit. It really helped me understand that battle much better. The area is very beautiful, making it hard to imagine such a terrible battle having happened there.
How do you engage a guide or join a guided tour at Shiloh Nat. Battlefield? Approximate cost and length (time) of tour. Thank you! Diane

Whether you want to go on your own or engage an expert, go to the main building to get a map and other park information, There is also a very good film to see. Once there, the rangers on duty can provide you with a pamphlet which includes the times and locations where they will be giving their talks. There is no charge for this service. If the weather is bad you can drive the park by following the map.
If you know Civil War history you could take days . . . But realistically I'd guess about four hours. Make sure you visit the Visitors Center first. Watch the video as an overview.
