A group of nuns in Arlington, Texas, has been formally "dismissed from religious life" and their Carmelite order following a protracted dispute with the Bishop of Fort Worth that reached the Vatican.
The feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, celebrated on July 16, was first instituted in the late 14th century in commemoration of the approval of the rule of the Carmelite Order a hundred years earlier.
During the evening she had a telephone call from her uncle Bishop Emillianus Pillai. Soon after the call she gave us the news that she was giving up university to join the Carmelite order of sisters.
