This easy plum jam with added sparkle makes a great ... Towards the end of the cooking time the jam will bubble and plop, so be extra careful not to scald yourself as you stir it.
Bring to a simmer and cook gently for about 5 minutes ... that will be reflected when using them to make jam and, unquestionably, some plums are better for jam making than others.
I recommend using damson plums if you can get them. They make the best jam - rich, deep in colour and with a bit of lemon for a little tartness. Scrummy on toast, scones, brioche or a bakewell tart.
