中国高尿酸血症目前发病率约17.7%，患病人数已超过1.85亿，且呈明显上升和年轻化趋势；高尿酸血症已经成为继高血脂、高血糖与高血压后名副其实的“第四高”。高尿酸血症除了诱发痛风外，还是肥胖、糖尿病、心脑血管、高血压、肾病等多种常见代谢性疾病的独立危险因素。在全国高达2500万的痛风患者中，血脂异常率大约占一半以上；前期孟德尔随机分析提示高甘油三酯血症可能是高尿酸血症的诱因，但其潜在机制仍不清楚。
