Tecalli, a 27-year-old Grevy's zebra, died Oct. 29 at Peoria Zoo as a result of natural causes and complications from a recent medical procedure.
The zebra transferred to the Peoria Zoo from the St. Louis Zoo in 2015. Reagan Slonecker, one of her primary zookeepers, said Tecalli was cautious and caring with a soft spot for carrots.
