When the meter spinner water heaters wear out, heat pump water heaters will be more of a mature technology and the market will have coalesced around a handful of decent products. Right now you are paying a large premium to be a pioneer and take on all the risk.

Why? Every single one failed. One lasted only six weeks. I can't be having that. It ends up making me look bad, not Bradford-White. Now I only replace Combi-Cors that others have installed. Just did another the other night. That one was only four years old. Bradford-White makes some good products, but the Combi-Cor isn't one of them.

Radiant with Bradford-White Combi-core water heater
Bradford-White has another similar heater with power venting that eliminates the atmospheric heat loss. My heat loss for the radiant heated are is only around 18,000 BTU. The water heater uses 65,000BTU with an AFUE of 82%, which I can't imagine bears any relation to that AFUE with a boiler; or perhaps it does.
