Tbh I’ve seen a lot of horror movies and I couldn’t get to 10 that truly scared me and stand the rest of time to this day, but these 5 all messed me up and had me sleeping with the lights on especially Sinister and The Grudge those two gave me nightmares for days

But I would have to say from experience most movies that at least scared me were Japanese Horror films. You can take The Ring and Ringu(jap) and Ringu is scarier same for Ju-on better than the Grudge. Horror movies based on true stories or having the premises for potentially being able to happen are kinda scary.
