It's a thoroughly decent, enjoyable zombie movie that doesn't require a lot of heavy thought. The best zombie movie AND book imo, however, goes to Girl With All the Gifts. Beautiful story, original idea on zombies, and a very decent movie adaptation of a stunning book, they left stuff out obviously but not nearly to the extent of WWZ.

Maybe the book was unworkable as a movie (too many unconnected characters), but the movie is just such a generic zombie flick, completely changing the story and zombie mechanics of the book.
