2016年8月29日 · Most of the 7.62 X 39 is mild steel core, not true hardened steel penetrator, and neither is M193 & M855. The true AP stuff isn't around for civies to play with. Maybe, too, most folks don't want to call attention to rifle ammo & body armor--the left antis are already trying to ban any ammo that defeats soft body armor.

Can I put in a 7.62x39 bolt and enhanced firing pin in a regular carrier and be done? Or do I need a whole new 7.62 BCG, or do nothing and use a normal BCG

2020年4月10日 · Not as much of an issue as 5.56 because 7.62x39 doesn't depend as much on velocity to generate energy at the target like 5.56 does. I have shot my M92 out to around 300yd without issue, making consistent visible hits on a rock face (way out on in-laws property in Montana, no real risk here) with a bit of hold over on the RDS.

2020年10月30日 · 5.56 will destroy more meat when closer than a .300 BO or 7.62x39 would because of velocity. There is a way bigger stretch cavity that will stretch tissue past elasticity causing a bigger wound. If at a distance where the 5.56 has slowed down to .300 BO or 7.62x39 velocities, then the latter 30 cal bullets will destroy more tissue.

I was surprised myself when comparing 7.62x39 vs. 30-30, the Russian round is much softer shooting. You often see them compared and rightfully so but my 30-30 kicks a lot harder than my AK.

2006年11月1日 · When the bullets dont fragment the 5.56 still has superior wound profile during its relatively early yaw cycle when comaparing ball 7.62 to most OTM .223/5.56 so it does not automatically lose outside the frag range. If there was propper bullet development the 7.62x39 would smoke 5.56 in every category under 200 yards. Sadly ammo selection is thin.
