Oct 19, 2011 · Neither, for that specific application. Grab the cheapest rotary laser you can find--it doesn't have to be all that accurate. Within reason, it's far more important for the whole ceiling to be in plane than to be perfectly level. :thumbsup:

As far as why mason's use one is dried mortar just pops right off wood, it adheres to aluminum. If you get to the mortar before it dries the aluminum can be washed clean it just takes more effort than wood.
