2023年12月18日 · The FRS channels, 8-14, where kept at very low power and narrow band since they partially overlap the main GMRS repeater channels. The idea was to minimize the interference they cause. At the time FRS was limited to 0.5 watts and narrow band, 12.5KHz channel, so keeping the restrictions didn't require any changes to existing radios.

We don't require a GMRS License because you're not talking directly to the Radios. Many in our Community now have radios and test them from time to time. Hopefully won't need them during Hurricane Season.

GMRS is permitted up to 5W on 1-7, and up to 50W on 14-22 (and repeater pairs); true FRS is limited to 2W NFM on 1-7/15-22 (and NO repeaters).

2024年10月13日 · If you actually read the gmrs license agreement before you paid your fees you would know that 1st you may only use a gmrs radio that only has the 22 gmrs channels and 8 repeater pairs. If you’re using a radio that tx’s on any other frequencies you are already in violation. 2nd you would know that gmrs user may only use those “channels”.

Giving the FRS users the use of the existing channels 1-7 at two-watts and taking away channels 8-14 would not be a dis-service to the FRS users.

As a newly licensed Amateur operator, I don't see too much difference using Zello rather than Echolink, Peanut, Dstar, DMR, YSF, or even Wires-X. Particularly in the GMRS and Ham channels of which I'm a member, a license is needed.
