For performance, 1.5-2 is probably prefferable, as it is a bit looser than stock specs, and yet isn't really loose. A guy I know runs a 351W in his stock car, and they run about .0035" main bearing clearance, but they replace the bearings after about every 3 races.

It will be using a standard volume melling M83 oil pump. The master repair manual lists Main and Rod bearing clearances both as 0.0008"-0.0015". That seems too tight to me.

2008年10月10日 · Dont see anything wrong with .0015 clearace. Clearances are often determined depending on usage. A dedicated drag car might be a bit to tight a street or race endurance usage would be good. A realy high RPM drag engine tight is often better. Some engines like a 445 Buick are best off tigher than factory specks.

2009年9月8日 · An oversize bearing is going to make your clearance smaller. You need an undersize bearing. Maybe just have the machine shop who did the work order the bearings for you, at least if they are wrong on size the should exchange them for you.
