Mar 7, 2014 · Rutgers is often available in garden centers. It comes as close as any tomato to having that old fashioned flavor bite. Atkinson - often available in garden centers in the Southeast. Good for canning and is an excellent table tomato. Homestead - descended from Rutgers, has some advantages over Rutgers. Good rich flavor.
Big Beef Plus - Tomatoville® Gardening Forums
Nov 28, 2021 · It is pretty tough to take one pic of a cut tomato and be representative of the breed. The cut one looks like an undersized big beef, to me. A good sized, well developed big beef will have 6 or more chambers, I count that one as 4 chambers. I'll admit though, I'm growing tomatoes for a lot of years but still don't know what a "beefsteak" tomato is.

Aug 13, 2024 · The GM purple tomato from Norfolk Healthy Produce is just called Purple. It is an inbred ("open pollinated") variety. You can buy them in shops in a few states (not mine) under the brand name "Empress Limited Edition Tomato". I bought seed directly from Norfolk on first release; $10 for 10 seeds.

Feb 13, 2021 · The cherry tomato, Lorelei, I released last fall is a superbly flavored cherry though Camp Joy is nearly as good. Others that have plenty of flavor are Red Brandywine, Andrew Rahart's Jumbo Red, Picardy (superb canner), Piennolo, Reif's Red Heart, and Wisconsin 55 (short season climates), Frank's Large Red, and Bisignano #2.
