The trouble with Tannoy speakers and their fans is the amount of misinformation and nostalgia surrounding them. The fans are mostly vintage aficionados and who deny the superiority of the more modern products.

I stumbled upon this little shop around the corner from my house didn't even know it was there they've got like vintage audio stuff. This guy had these hooked up to a twenty-year-old McIntosh amp.

These speakers provide superb performance in my large room, with very adequate bass response in my 16' X 34' with cathedral ceilings room. I write this to let you know what the 12" drivers can do.

2007年9月15日 · I hear the same fundamental sound whether I run a vintage HK Citation II (a solid state rectified tube amp and possibly the most "modern" sounding vintage tube power amp there was), MC30s, MC60s, or (when I had it) a McIntosh MA-6200 SS amp which again is a lot more "modern" sounding.

2020年12月21日 · Have heard the new Arden, Cheviot and Eaton intensely and they are indeed excellent speakers with perfect treble, very well done but expected for the price. Compared to old Tannoy they have way more slam, they are nearly modern speakers now - “nearly” meant in a good way. Definitely superior to most other Designs out there including Harbeth.

2015年4月12日 · I have heard most all of the Tannoy products save a few exotic models made since 1995. The Turnberry is a 10" driver and you were comparing it to a 15" driver. If you have priced vintage Tannoy speakers, you will find that it costs from $5k to $10k for a nice pair of 15" Red or Gold systems with cabinets.
