2020年11月27日 · The z-line is a zig-zag line where these 2 different type tissues meet. Occasionally it can be irregular and protrude more into the esophagus and not have the typical appearance. This is generally a benign condition but can occasionally represent mild barrett's esophagus, a precancerous change caused by reflux.

Esophagitis: Normally, the z line is a regular which is why it's called the z line. In other words, the line is sharply demarcated but wavy as it goes around the esophagus. Inflammation of this can blur the border as well as barrett's esophagus. A hiatal hernia has no effect on the z line per se. Hope this helps!
