2010年4月28日 · I buy a particular size and length cedar boards from a local mill for about $3.00 each. An acquaintance insisted on buying the same size and length cedar boards from a Big Box for $14.80 each. Mine are smoother, with less cracks, fewer imperfections and are better milled. Real LumberJocks buy real lumber. <grin>

sealing the buried part of posts with tar?
2010年8月4日 · Throw mason sand down and pack then 3/4" aggregate, mix a 60lb bag of quikcrete then set the post in and plumb. If your soil has lots of clay lighten it up with mason sand and compost, 1/2way fill the hole, tamp and flood, let perk and when clear fill the hole. Leave the plumb sticks in place a couple 3 days then remove.

Woods that stink when you cut or sand them.
2013年1月11日 · Holly has very little visual grain. It is also very dense and very blond. Box Elder is another possibility. Both of these stink when cut or sanded. The more I work with wood the more I recognize only God can make something as beautiful as a tree. I hope my humble attempts at this craft do justice by His masterpiece.
