2004年5月17日 · I have a TrueTrac in my daily driver. I'm using Conventional lube based on Eaton's recommendations. However if I were to use a synthetic it'd likely be Redline 75w90 NS which is made without any limited slip friction modifiers. I'm so pleased with how well my TrueTrac works with a conventional lube I'm unlikely to switch to a synthetic.

2021年12月14日 · Straight from Eaton(Detroit) TrueTrac lit, "Detroit Truetrac A quality petroleum GL5 rated (mineral) based oil is recommended. Synthetic oils may also be used if desired per axle manufacturer’s recommendations. Friction modifiers should not be used however, as they will decrease overall performance (reduce differential bias)."

2009年9月11日 · Eaton does own Detroit Locker hence the Eaton Detroit TruTrac labeling on Summit and other locations.. The operation of the Diff is very similar to the Torsen Geared units and it's just a matter of taste, IMHO unles you want to get the Racing unit from Torsen ie the T2R then you have a difference between the two base units of the two vendors..

Confirming their recommendations and adding a bit more information, the Eaton performance technician pointed me towards 'Shell Spirax HD', and said Eaton had no recommendation or preference regarding oil weight (80W-90, 85W-140, etc.).

2004年5月17日 · Huh. I have had a Truetrac in my 4runner for about 100k miles. I used conventional for breakin, and boy did it get hot! After 50 miles or so, I put in Redline, (Which immediately ran much cooler) and that is what I have used ever since. No mention at the time of installation that synthetic was not recommended.
