2016年11月22日 · I installed it on a detached garage roof. Followed all the instructions carefully including pre-trimming the radials for 40 and 80 meters. I contacted HyGain and they said to follow trim instructions for the AV-640. Using a similar antenna analyzer I logged 3.5:1 for 20m, inf. on 40m, 2.2:1 on 15m and 1.6:1 on 10m. I think 80m was high as well.

2019年1月14日 · Guys, Hy-Gain had always been its own entity. Yes there were some rather large dealers out there. Our family's company did quite a bit of business with Hy-Gain mid 70's. Honestly IMHO Telex really jacked up the antennas. They hired a new crop of Electrical Engineers circa 1980 or so. A friend had gone to school at Iowa State with them.

2024年5月16日 · Hy-Gain didn't use hose clamps. They had a much better clamp for aluminum antennas. Hams benefitted from the Television Antenna Industry. A bazillion TV antennas were manufactured and sold. That infrastructured made it cheap to make special purpose parts just for antennas. Hams love cheap when it works well. Clamp on an old Hy-Gain vertical.

2024年4月25日 · One V6-R is an original pre hy gain design made by Nu-Tronics, the second is an original early edition Hy-gain which predates MFJ by 10 years and the final one is a late model MFJ design. All three of these antennas tune up using the same dimensions and operate similarly.

MFJ expressly states this antenna has a "3-4 dB gain advantage over ground-independent verticals" - which, I suppose, says more about the relative weakness of "ground-less" vertical antennas, than it does about the strengths of the cob web. ;-) / JR /
