2005年2月18日 · A pike pole or an all purpose hook works great for opening up walls and is a lot faster than chopping at it with an axe. Punch it in at waist level and then push the hook down toward the sill. Then pull the top end of the pole towards you. Makes a nice opening all the way down to the floor.

2016年2月3日 · The Boston Rake does appear to be the best tool for wood lath and plaster due to it's simple design and the length of the tip. The LA Trash Hook does not look like it would be effective on wood lath and plaster ceilings. Also lower portions of walls. It seems to me the angle of approach would be awkward. It does appear to be a good sheetrock hook.

2006年10月7日 · Its knocks out the returns on skylights easier, It can pry open scuttle covers and skylights, and with the haligan bar, it can be used for single man forcible entry, it pulls plaster and lathe better than the standard hook, you can tie off on it, it pulls tounge and grove roofing like a champ and its easier to grab the knock out end of roof cut.

2008年1月13日 · I really don't like the Griff hook due to its length. To me a hook ought to be 6 ft. or longer if needed. But for versatility the short hooks lack leverage and reach, in which case it's the Pro-bar or no bar. I would like to see Firehooks make the Farr hook in a 48 or 54" lenght (fork on one end, NY hook on the other).

Providence Hook is basically a arrow point pike pole with a flair opposite the hook. It's compact head can get in between lathe and plaster a rip the s*** out of it.

2015年2月10日 · Do you have any older construction dwellings/buildings with plaster and lathe walls in your community? If so, get at least one 6' Boston Rake on the rig. You can pull more plaster/lathe more quickly and efficiently with a rake than any other kind of hook.

2002年2月18日 · In NYC, we carry two types of hooks, the 6' halligan hook made of hollow steel, w/a pry end at the base and the 6' wooden hook w/ a traditional hook at the top. The can position carries the wood hook for opening up the plaster in the fire area. The OV and roof carry halligan hooks for the variety of outside duties they are responsible.

2003年10月18日 · Hook is synonymous with pike pole or plaster hook, etc. So Hook and Ladder is just an old term for a ladder company. They preformed truck work at fires. An old tactic was to tear down an exposure to prevent fire spread. That era also had the bed key which was used to take apart a bed, because for many it was the most valued possession a person had.
