Currently for my 2nd system I have a Chord Mojo with Analysis Plus Toslink cable, and I can do 24/192 without issues.

Most of the current USB audio interfaces don't seem to properly isolate USB from rest of the electronics, especially from the clocking circuitry.

I have also found, that Toslink sound much better than USB in that case: Caiman II USB vs. Spdif I would like to add also, that Toslink was invented specifically for audio in the past, where nobody thought about USB yet for this reason.--

2021年2月2日 · JCAT USB XE (powered by Teddy Pardo) -> Sablon 2020 USB -> Matrix Audio x-spdif 2 (powered though the JCAT) -> Atlas Mavos Optical -> Chord qutest. This combination is transformational. Take away the final stage of the optical connection however and feed the qutest using the USB stage only and it’s nowhere near as impressive.

With a USB converter, you will still need a DAC to convert the Digital signal to analog. I've used these 3 and thought they are worth the $$: Fiio E10. About $60 This does Digital to Analog conversion AND USB to Digital Coax.
